Vintage Rosette Father’s Day Ribbon- Karen Taylor

Good morning everyone. I am here today hoping to inspire and to share not one but two creations!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I had a fantastic time making sure my husband AKA: WORLD’S GREATEST DAD had a fantastic time on his special day.

I was raised by my grandmother and one of the things that I remember the most is her 1930’s scrapbooks that were full of paper trinkets….. memories from her youth. One of the things I loved the most were the old hand made invitations to dances with the old glitter and tissue paper still intact….faded but still glorious.
I love vintage rosette award ribbons and I thought that there could not be a better way to celebrate the wonderful father’s that I know than making one…in the vintage style.

For my Vintage Rosette Father’s Day Ribbon I used paper from Donna Salazar Design’s Antiquities line from GCD Studio’s Inc.

To make this Vintage Rosette Father’s Day Ribbon:
Karen Taylor DS tut wgd scalloped circles
I started by using the Spellbinder Paper Arts Grand Calibur to cut Spellbinders Paper Arts: Classic Scalloped Circles LG #3 and #5 (#1 being the smallest and #5 the largest) out of chipboard and color with Donna Salazar Design’s Smooch Spritz by Clearsnap in Wood Stain.

NOTE: You will notice in the directions I do not tell you exactly which of the Antiquities line to use…the reason is …it does not matter. They go together so wonderfully you can grab anyone and they look fantastic together! But at the bottom I include my product list for you.

Using the Spellbinders Paper Arts:  Classic Scalloped Circles LG I cut a #3 and a #4 and with the Standard Circles LG I cut a #4 from Donna Salazar Design’s Antiquities and inked.
Cut seven strips of Donna Salazar Design’s Antiquities paper to 3 inches by 1/2 inch and inked.

Make a small fold on one side of the paper strip in the center and fold the other two sides down making a point for the rosette.
Slide a point over two scallops as shown skipping every other one.

Then go back and fill in other points.

Draw a circle on the back of the Classic Scalloped Circle LG that is colored with Wood Stained Smooch Spritz on the front.
Use circle as a guide to glue party crepe paper ribbon on to the back gathering as you glue.

Ink crepe paper.

Adhere the the Crepe paper circle to the finished paper point rosette circle and add Standard Circle LG # 3 to the top center.
Karen Taylor DS tut wgd letters

Spray Donna Salazar Design’s Smooch Spritz by Clearsnap in Wood Stain on a sponge applicator and color sticker letters. When dry add “World’s Greatest Dad” to center of rosette.
Cut a piece of crepe paper to 6 inches, a piece of Donna Salazar Design’s Antiquities line Die-Cut Ribbon Paper to 5 1/2 inches and a piece of the line of you choice to 5 inches x 3/4 inches. Cut a dove tail in each and ink. Adhere the Die-Cut Ribbon Paper on top of the crepe paper adhere the remaining piece on top. Repeat to make a second ribbon tail.

Karen Taylor DS JUNE triple ribbon

Adhere the ribbon tails to the Rosette completing your Vintage Rosette Father’s Day Ribbon.

I also made this one that could be used for any occasion.

There are only minor differences. The center of this one does not have a sentiment instead has one of Donna Salazar Design’s Rose Creations Dies from Spellbinder’s Paper Arts. Just have fun and add your personality. Ribbon, lace, glitter, bits of old books, quotes from the Donna’s Crafty Chronicle. The possibilities are truly endless!
*NOTE- the rosette with out the ribbon tails would make an fantastic gift topper!
